Ingredients

6-8 Stewing Pears

2-3 cloves

1 tsp fennel seeds

2 cinnamon sticks

30 raisins

Brown Sugar (or 'Donkere basterdsuiker') to your personal preference

wine or liqueur to your personal preference

Preparations

* Peel the Pears and leave them whole; ^You can shape the pear peels in a shape that close to your heart too for the festival ;) I once left bell shaped peels on each pear.

*Place each pears upward in a pot. Add water to submerge the pears fully (to get a even color). The trick is to use a pot that is not too big to avoid having too much liquid after cooking for dressing.

* Add in cloves, fennel seeds, cinnamon sticks, and sugar (or any wine or liqueur if you d prefer).

* Bring to boil. Turn down to medium fire to simmer with lid (covered), for 2.5 hours till the pears turn to a beautiful translucent red.

* Lift the pears carefully out of the pan, to plate.

* Pour the residual stew water into a pan, add in raisins cook till thickened (or add starch for a quick result). Don't forget to stir to avoid the sauce to be burnt.

* Drip and glaze the pears. Serve your precious Guests a couple of raisins too. Be mindful, they might also ask for ice cream or whipped cream.

Genieten!
